How to Set an Intention for Manifestation
You can manifest your intentions by changing your mindset from simply accepting your life as it is to focus on the way you desire to live.

Here’s how to set an intention for manifestation and start turning your dreams and desires into reality.
Step 1: Let Go of Negative Thoughts and Limiting Beliefs
The Law of Attraction states, “like attracts like.” In other words, when you focus on what you don’t have and maintain a negative mindset, you’ll attract more of the same. Instead, let go of those negative thoughts and limiting beliefs and start viewing the world as a place of abundance.
Banishing negativity allows you to set positive intentions and transform your inner thoughts into reality.
Step 2: Have Clarity of Thought Processes
It’s important that you get specific with your intentions. Have certainty about what you want, and believe that you have the power to achieve it, as overcoming doubt is one of the biggest obstacles when it comes to manifestation.
Be flexible, as the path towards manifestation is not always straight and unhindered. Have belief in the process and hold tight to intentions you set.
Step 3: Practice Visualization
Visualization is more than simply imagining something – instead, you’re feeling the moment with all of your senses. You’re truly embracing your visualization as if it’s your current reality, and you’re using that energy to bring it to life.
Let’s say your dream has always been to spend a year living in Paris, France (that was a dream of mine that I manifested!)
Lay down somewhere comfortable, close your eyes and visualize yourself in Paris.
Think about how it sounds – perhaps you can hear a street musician in Le Marais. Imagine what you can smell – baguettes baking at a local boulangerie, crepes sizzling at a tiny crepe stand. Feel the breeze on your skin as you imagine yourself walking through Jardin des Tuileries.
Pay attention to how all of this makes you feel – excited, joyful, proud. Drink in the moment and hold onto how you feel, then release this to the universe with intention – “this is what I want, and this will be my reality.”
Step 3: Take Action
Visualization without action is like a car without a driver. The car can’t move anywhere without someone driving it and likewise, your dreams will remain simply dreams unless you take action towards turning them into reality.
Once you’ve visualized your goal with clarity, break it up into doable parts.
Let’s go back to our Paris example. What will it take to live in Paris for a year?
You’ll need money to support yourself or the ability to work while you’re living in Paris. You’ll need somewhere to live, and you’ll need the legal right to live in France.
Knowledge is power, so start doing the research to see what you’ll need. Reach out to someone who has achieved your goal and see if they have any tips or advice they can share. Buy books on the subject and research on the internet.
Once you’ve got your game plan together, take action, starting by breaking large goals into smaller tasks. This will give you a feeling of achievement for each milestone reached and help you retain the motivation required to reach the ultimate goal.
Step 5: Journal
Journaling is one of the most powerful manifestation techniques there is, as it helps you to get a clear picture of what it is you truly want. For example, you may think you want to live overseas for a year, but after reading through your journal, you’ve noticed that every time you spend a week or two on vacation, you miss your home and family a lot. If that’s the case, you may want to look deeper inside yourself to see if living overseas is something you truly desire or if it just sounds good because someone else you know did it, and enjoyed it.
In addition, making note of the good things you already have in your life helps you to feel gratitude, which in turn, attracts more good to you. There are really no downsides to regular journaling!
Step 6: Create a Personal Mantra
A personal mantra feeds positivity, and positivity is a key towards successful manifestation. When you have your own personal mantra, you can use it to drown out negative thoughts whenever they appear.
I repeat my personal mantra every morning as part of my morning manifesting ritual but you can repeat your mantra whenever you feel the desire.
Step 7: Practice Daily
Just as an athlete must train every day to maintain their skills, it’s important to practice and follow through with your intentions daily.
Don’t simply write down your intention in a journal and then forget about it until a year has passed and you realize you’re no closer to achieving your goal than the day you initially set it.
Journal daily, and make sure to keep track of every time you reach a milestone. Celebrate that success and then start moving forward towards the next step.
Step 8: Meditate
Regular meditation is an excellent tool to calm and unclutter your mind, along with providing the perfect vehicle to really deepen your focus on achieving your desires.
You can use your meditation time to repeat your personal mantra, visualize your desires or simply clear your mind, giving you more mental energy to focus on taking action towards your goals.
Remember that your mind has infinite capacities. Meditation can help you train it to focus on your desired objectives instead of your perceived obstacles.
Step 9: Celebrate Affirmations and Synchronicity
As your desires become reality, use your successful manifestation to keep negative thoughts at bay. Things happening at the right time and place are not simply coincidences or “dumb luck” but a signal that your intentions are manifesting.
These synchronizations are an affirmation that you are on the right track, so celebrate them and allow them to continue guiding you.
You create your own reality every day. And with every thought and every action, you’re manifesting your future. The process is continuous – it doesn’t matter whether you’re consciously manifesting or simply allowing your thoughts and actions to dictate your future.
When you set an intention for manifestation, you’re consciously creating your future – the future you desire.
